President’s Message

width=243Long before I ever lived in the Philippines, it was already part of my story.

I was born, raised, and educated in Canada, but I also grew up closely connected to Winnipeg's vibrant Filipino-Canadian community. Through friends, neighbours, community events, and shared traditions, I developed an early appreciation for the values that continue to define the relationship between our two countries: family, resilience, generosity, and a deep sense of community.

More than two decades ago, I made the Philippines my home. Here, I built a career, raised a family across both Canada and the Philippines, and developed an even deeper appreciation for the remarkable connections that exist between our people.

Those connections matter.

While trade figures, investment flows, and economic partnerships often dominate the headlines, the Canada-Philippines relationship has always been about more than commerce alone. It is built on generations of people who have studied together, worked together, built businesses together, and created opportunities for one another across borders.

That foundation of trust is one of our greatest strengths.

Today, we find ourselves at an exciting moment in the relationship between our two countries. As Canada deepens its engagement across the Indo-Pacific and the Philippines continues its rise as one of the region's most dynamic economies, new opportunities are emerging across technology, infrastructure, energy, education, professional services, and innovation.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines has an important role to play in that future.

Our purpose is not simply to connect businesses. It is to help build the relationships, ideas, and partnerships that enable businesses and communities to thrive. It is to create opportunities for our members to learn from one another, collaborate across industries, and participate in the growth story unfolding around us.

My vision for ÒõAPPµ¼º½ is a Chamber that is vibrant, relevant, and deeply connected to the people it serves. A Chamber that brings together established leaders and emerging voices. A Chamber that creates meaningful opportunities for engagement, learning, and growth. And a Chamber that reflects the energy, ambition, and optimism that define both Canada and the Philippines.

What gives me confidence in that vision is the community itself.

Every day, I meet entrepreneurs, executives, professionals, public servants, and community leaders who are committed to building something bigger than themselves. They understand that meaningful progress happens when people come together around a shared purpose and a belief in what is possible.

That spirit has shaped the Canada-Philippines relationship for generations, and it will continue to shape its future.

The work ahead is collaborative, ambitious, and full of potential. I look forward to building it together.
